To which article are you referring, just out of curiosity? Either way, please do your research before even thinking about throwing your money away and risking your health with these products. Follow the facts, not the hyperbole. This stuff is the “snake oil” of this century.

Hi James, I just happened to come across your website by accident. My husband and I were thinking of doing a colon cleanse, but I think we (he) will try this first. This was very informative and makes sense. My hubby just had a sigmoidoscopy and said that after it was all over, he felt very healthy. I will let him experiment with this and let you know what happens.

You, of course, have the right to disagree. Do me a favor – do not ask for opinions, look at facts. Look up colon cleansing on wikipedia. Here is the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colon_cleansing. Look for the science. Show me ANYTHING that PROVES that colon cleansing does anything except steal your money and risk your health. I am sorry to have to tell you this, but colon cleansing has no benefits. None. If you are constipated, drink milk and go for a brisk walk. Nine times out of ten, constipation is a result of too little fiber and not enough exercise.

Congrats on the baby on the way, by the way. Let’s be healthy for the little one, okay? Don’t risk your/his/her health with snake oil scams.

I bumped into your blog trying to find out what the opinions of colon cleansing during pregnancy are after I saw a brochure from a colon cleansing place not recommending it after the first trimester. I used colon cleansing while i was trying to lose weight about 4 times, once every week. I am usually very constipated and it helped me and I don’t agree with you that it should not be done at all. I agree that everything has to be done in moderation of course. But when you are pregnant and you should not take laxatives what are your options? I had a bit of sixth sense to check the opinions before I did it as a last resort and the truth is that I did not realize it can cause uterus contractions which i felt before while duing it. So for that I am thankful and I find your blog interesting but I don’t think that you are entirely correct. For what it’s worth may be it will stop some people from overdoing it and people like me who are pregnant though looking towards this as a last resort. But the colon cleanse helped a lot before and I felt significantly better and I know it was from the cleansing. Yes, you do have to go to a good place and this one added chlorophyl to the procedure and nutrients, don’t know if it makes a difference but it does help for regularly constipated people. I don’t think it’s should be done very often but let’s face it, if it cleanses you even one day out of your nutrients isn’t this equal to not eating? I know a lot of people who don’t eat one day a week to cleanse themselves and it does help them a lot. I am not a doctor of course but denying colon cleansing completely while one is not pregnant seems unjustified to me.
